Protecting Your Password

We all know the importance of protecting the passwords we use every day for work, banking, shopping and almost all other aspects of our daily lives.  With so many passwords to keep track of, many of us reuse passwords or choose easy to remember passwords that are also easy to break. 
 
Just how easy is it to find out someone else’s password? Jimmy Kimmel asked people on the street in his Pedestrian Question segment:

Passwords with a pet’s name, birthday, city you’ve lived and school make us laugh, but also show how easy it can be to discover someone’s password by asking simple, seemingly benign questions. 
 
So we want to remind the whole E-team about our password rules. And remember, don’t share your password while being interviewed on the street!
 
Essex Password Rules
1.      All passwords must be changed every 45 days.
2.      Passwords must have a minimum of 8 characters.
3.      Passwords must contain a mix of at least one each of: upper and lower case letters, numbers and punctuation/special characters
4.      Passwords cannot be re-used within a 13-month period.
