Leave of Absence

Workflow

1. Reasons to Initiate a Leave of Absence:
  • Associate is absent for more than 3 days for medical reasons.
  • Specific requests for medical, maternity, family, paternity, military, and  etc. 
  • Associate has requested time off related to medical or other protected reason.
2. Requesting Leave:
 
Associates will need to contact ADP Total Absence Management to initiate their leave of absence by calling or using the self service portal.

****If you would like to have emails sent to your personal email address, make sure to request this when you initiate your leave of absence, as it will be defaulted to your work email address for compliance reasons.

3. Time Entry :
 
Do not post PTO or any other pay for associates who are on LOA. Please complete the PTO/Housing form and return to HR by submitting a ServiceNow ticket to General HR. 
 

California Leaves -  Essex will coordinate usage of your accrued PTO with SDI/PFL (State Disability Insurance / Paid Family Leave).  Please contact HR for more information.

Washington Leaves- You may use your available PTO or file for State Paid Family and Medical Leave. You cannot supplement your PTO along with your paid leave; you must select one or the other.

 Please Note:

ADP Total Absence Management team will reach out to the specific associate regarding details and explain legal regulations depending on the reason for leave. All forms, letters, and communications will be handled by ADP Total Absence Management . 

Managers and associates should contact ADP Total Absence Management team for all leave of absence requests and inquiries. 


**Manager does not need to take any action in Workday. Once a leave request is approved by ADP, the information will reflect in Workday.**
