Physical Wellness

Physical wellbeing is a key pillar in our overall Wellness program. This month we are taking a closer look at one aspect of Physical Wellness - Heart Health.

This February celebrates the 57th Annual American Heart Month – an opportunity to shed light on heart disease and heart care prevention. Cardiovascular (heart) Disease is a leading cause of death in the United States, with the CDC stating, “one person dies every 36 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease…that is 1 in every 4 deaths”.

In many cases, heart disease can be prevented by embracing a healthy lifestyle. Starting early is best but it is never too late to take steps to prolong your life by increasing healthy behaviors.

Things you can start right now:

Changing behaviors and creating new habits can be overwhelming, but we are here to help! Essex plans to support you through your Wellness journey with resources, engagement events, and continued assistance in helping you achieve your goals. Focusing on Wellness, individual and company, gives all of us another lens in which to see our culture continue to evolve. Commit to making one lifestyle change this month to improve your heart health.

This Friday, Feb. 4, is National Wear Red Day as part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative.
