Please join us in welcoming Steven Steele, who will be serving as our Director of Maintenance.

Steven was previously at Invitation Homes, an owner-managed single-family property management company, where he served as the National Vice President of Maintenance. Invitation Homes was formed as a company in 2012, and over the span of just a few years grew its portfolio from a few hundred homes to over 47,000 in 10 different states. This exponential growth afforded him the opportunity to develop every aspect of the Maintenance department, from defining and writing policies and procedures, to creating industry standard reporting for a space that was previously non-existent.

Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife of 10 years, as well as his two children, Parker, 5, and Brooke, 7. He has several hobbies ranging from fishing to golf, which he is self-proclaimed to be “terrible” at, but that doesn’t stop him from trying!

Of coming to Essex, Steven says,

I couldn’t be more excited to join the Essex team. From an outsider looking in, Essex is well-respected in the industry, and in truth, it actually took four months of clawing at this job to get it. Once I was given the thumbs-up, I could hardly contain my excitement!

A little background on myself; I started in this industry as a painter/porter and have since worked my way through the ranks to run a maintenance team for a national portfolio. I believe that this experience has provided me with a unique understanding of what it takes to effectively manage properties at every level.

At the very core of what I hope to accomplish here at Essex is to be an advocate and a voice for, in my opinion, some of the most important people in this industry: the Maintenance team.
