We’ve all heard stories of Essex associates going above and beyond the call of duty, especially when it comes to customer service. But these associates in San Diego took it a step further in caring for their residents – they are literally lifesavers. Essex is so proud of these associates, and they were recently recognized by John Burkart with a special Essex Excellent award.

CM Holly Shepherd, LS Jaime Torres and Sr. MT Hector Sanchez at Carmel Landing
Earlier this year at Carmel Landing, a resident called the office stating that her neighbor was in a life-threatening situation. Holly, Jaime and Hector immediately realized that the resident was in grave danger. Jaime and Hector ran to the apartment, kicked down the door and provided assistance. Their aid made the difference between life and death, and the resident survived.

CM Ruffin Brown and MT Rogelio Gomez at Country Villas

When Rogelio at Country Villas saw smoke from an apartment window, he leapt into action. Upon entering the home, he saw a small kitchen fire on the stove from an unattended pot of grease. Rogelio was able to extinguish the fire and ventilate the apartment. When Ruffin arrived, they found the resident unresponsive in the bedroom, called for paramedics immediately and began to render aid. Fortunately, the resident began responding as soon as the medics walked through the door.
