PASSCODE REQUIRED FOR ALL MEETINGS
Effective September 27, 2020, Zoom will require all meetings to have a passcode or waiting room enabled. Don’t worry, our IT team has you covered with the transition! Here’s how this will affect your day-to-day meeting setup:

  • For new meetings, you won’t notice any difference. The password will automatically be included in the meeting URL, so any attendee that clicks link or “Join Zoom Meeting” will automatically be able to join your meeting without having to enter a password.
  • For meetings already on your calendar (that YOU are the organizer for) and for recurring meetings, you will need to do one quick update to add the password.

To be sure you’re ready for the password implementation:

  • First, you’ll need to be sure you have the Zoom Add-In set up in Outlook. You can use this quick tutorial video as a guide: Outlook Add-In for Zoom
  • Second, you’ll need to update your upcoming and recurring meetings that you are the host of. You can use this quick tutorial video as a guide: Add Password for Zoom Meetings

The deadline to update your meeting invites is Monday, September 21. If you have any additional questions, please visit the Zoom password requirements FAQ

ZOOM CHAT REPLACES MICROSOFT TEAMS CHAT

Zoom chat allows you to communicate one-on-one with other team members using the messaging feature, but did you know you can also use Zoom for group chats?

If you are still using the chat feature in Microsoft Teams, now is the time to make the switch to Zoom Chat. Effective September 18, 2020, the Microsoft Teams chat button will be removed from the Teams client.

For questions on Zoom Chat, please visit Service Now and type in “Zoom Chat Tools in the search bar.
