In our most recent Engagment Survey, over 95% of respondents indicated that they would like to continue to grow in their career with Essex over the next 1-3 years, and the data does not stop there. We have seen growth in our internal promotions during the first half of the year, filling 120 open positions with internal candidates during our first quarter this year. We can take an even closer look and see that in June alone, there were over 28 promotions, including:

  • 5 VPs
  • 3 Directors
  • 3 Community Managers
  • 2 Maintenance Supervisors
  • 5 Assistant Community Managers
  • 1 Maintenance Technician
  • And more…

As we have just finished with Mid-Year Performance Check-Ins, this is the opportune moment for all of us to embrace the feedback we received and create an actionable plan to increase our personal impact. Understanding our strengths and areas for growth is vital in how we move forward. We can then lean into our stronger skills and dedicate time to improve in others. You may be saying to yourself that you understand the feedback but that you don’t know where to start. Well, don’t worry, you are not alone.

From the recent Engagement Survey, we also learned that over 98% of respondents said Yes to the question “Do you know what is expected of you in your role at Essex?”. With this level of confidence and skill, it is time we all take a moment to think about our career goals at Essex. Remember, Care About What Matters also applies to you and your development.
