Knowledge is Power!

Throughout October, we connected the value of Act With Integrity and the behaviors We Are Driven By Purpose, and We See It, Own It, Do It to the foundational concept of customer service. At a high level, we discussed the link between them and got specific with real-world Essex examples. What we have not done yet is define key terms around these ideas.
 
The definition of:
  • Service: the action of helping or doing work for someone.
  • Help: improve a situation or problem; be a benefit to
  • Work: activity involving mental or physical effort done to achieve a purpose of results
  • Purpose: the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists
  • Act: take effect; have a particular effect
  • Integrity: the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles
As you can see, there is a common theme between the definitions; they all intersect. Each one leans on another to provide understanding and context. The reason for this? It is because you can achieve one with the other. That is how our values, behaviors, work, and goals link. So how do you make the connection?
 
Mindset A: Excellent customer service is our purpose, which drives us to Act With Integrity to achieve it.
Or
Mindset B: When we Act With Integrity as our driving purpose, we create excellent service experiences.
 
No matter which option you gravitate towards, it boils down to the fact that we all have the same goal in mind, success. That is why we are prospering as individuals and as a company, even during trying times, which is most important.
 
As we move into November, we will revisit Lead At Every Level and the behaviors We Embrace Honesty, We Support Work Life Balance, and We Do Great Together. Please continue to empower yourself and others by exemplifying and encouraging our Essex culture.
