It's Time to Set Your 2021 Goals!

Our 2021 goal-setting process in Workday begins this month! A key component of setting goals this year is "goal linkage" or cascading goals. Cascading goals begin with senior management and flow through to managers and individual contributors. This will provide all of our associates with the opportunity to see the strategic direction for our organization and understand how their job contributes to the big picture.

Goal setting has an organizational impact by:

  • Allowing us to establish objectives that contribute to the 2021 vision for Essex
  • Aligning efforts to achieve departmental goals, strategies and tactics
  • Building the foundation for successful performance 

So, when can I begin to input my goals?

This is an important change! You cannot enter and link your goals until your manager has entered theirs. Please use the following schedule:

  • February 1 - 5: SMC goals are entered
  • February 8 - 12: SVP, GVP and VPs goals are entered
  • February 15 - 26: RPMs and Directors goals are entered
  • March 1 - 12: All other associates input their goals, managers will review and approve individual contributor goals, and managers will create developmental goals
    • For operations associates under RPM levels, your goals will be autoloaded
    • Corporate associates will work with their managers to create and upload goals

The deadline for all goals to be entered into Workday is Friday, March 12, 2021.
