We are excited to announce some new changes coming to our new hire orientation, and we want you to be the first to know! As you may be aware, our current new hire orientation is a half-day session that runs once a week. The new Power Up Program will replace the current Essex Essentials training, but all HR onboarding practices will remain the same.

Our L&D team discovered there was an opportunity to revamp the new hire orientation, making it a more robust and valuable experience for our new associates. The new Power Up Program will provide a foundation for Essex history and our company background, our vision and values, insight into our company culture, and more! We will unveil this new orientation program beginning October 2020.

GOALS OF THE POWER UP PROGRAM
All new Essex associates will be introduced to:

  • Our mission, vision, strategic goals and priorities
  • Our culture, expectations, organizational structure and interpersonal relationships
  • How to engage and embark on their new career

NEW FEATURES FOR POWER UP PROGRAM

  • New Hire Orientation will now be two full days instead of one half-day
  • Orientation will include presentations from nearly a dozen Essex leaders covering various organizational departments. Each department’s presentation will be linked to one of our company values of EssexNEXT.
  • A welcome kit will be provided to all new hires within their first week of employment. Welcome kits will be sent to the hiring manager to personally present to their new associate.

BENEFITS OF POWER UP PROGRAM

  • New associates will be provided with a better understanding of the Essex culture and values (who we are and what we do) and an introduction to interdepartmental resources and leaders (put a face to the name)
  • Improved new hire performance and engagement
  • Increased associate retention
