Internal Promotion vs. External Hiring

As we strive to engage, enable, and empower our associates to thrive at Essex, we emphasize on training, referring, interviewing, and promoting from within. Investing in our associates has several benefits, such as lower cost of hiring, more career opportunities for the associates, enhanced overall leadership development, improved teamwork, and higher associate retention rate.
 
Please take a moment to review the number and percentage of job vacancies being filled internally (by promotions and transfers) vs. filled by external candidates - as given in the charts below. Between May, 2020 and July, 2020, 45.79% of total vacancies were filled by internal Essex associates while 54.21% of total vacancies were filled by external candidates.
 
To achieve our goal of increasing the number of internal promotions, you must foster your associates' growth with continued learning and development opportunities so that they keep developing their skill sets and be prepared for the next role they aspire for.
