Attention: All Associates

Promoting a Culture of Safety
We believe safety is a very important part of our culture. As such, Essex has created a new Safety Program. This program was developed with each associates' tasks in mind, with particular focus on maintenance associates' needs.

Features of this program include:

  • Objectives of hazard recognition, hazard control and zero accidents and personal injuries
  • Keeping our associates safe and healthy
  • Encourage associates to work safely and think safely
  • Designed to tackle challenges our maintenance team faces on a daily basis

The new Safety Program is based on two fundamental ideas:

  1. Accountability
  2. Exposure

Associate Requirements
In order for our safety program to be effective, all Essex Associates need to play a role in being accountable. Managers and Supervisors need to ensure the safety of their associates, and associates need to ensure their own safety.  Further requirements are detailed below.

All Associates:

  • We encourage every associate to report any unsafe or unprotected exposure that may pose a potential threat to their safety and health to management so that it can be corrected as soon as possible.

All On-site Associates:

  • All on-site associates are required to review the new policy during this month's safety meeting. You may view this content in the May 2017 Safety Newsletter here.

All Maintenance Associates:

  • All maintenance associates will be required to attend training that reviews each component of the new program. Each region has been or will be notified of training dates.

Injury and Illness Prevention Plan
In addition to the safety program, the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) has been revised – it is now a much more compact, efficient document that focuses on your safety needs.  You may review the newly updated IIPP here.
