2021 Performance Evaluations and Mid-Year Check-ins Start Today!

Our 2021 mid-year performance check-in will begin today, Monday, June 21. These mid-year performance evaluations will be available to all associates, including associates hired before April 1, 2021.
THE PURPOSE OF MID-YEAR CHECK-INS
- Provide clarity on goals and success metrics
- Provide constructive feedback to an associate to improve job knowledge and skills
- Reward high performance and help our associates grow their career at Essex
WHAT’S IMPROVED?
We have improved the process by moving to a 5-point rating scale so managers can easily differentiate between performance ratings. Below is an overview of the rating scale descriptions to help mangers make good assessments.

- 1 – Does Not Meet Expectations
- 2 – Meets Some Expectations
- 3 – Meets All Expectations
- 4 – Exceeds Some Expectations
- 5 – Exceeds All Expectations
SUGGESTED PERFORMANCE DISTRIBUTION
To ensure similar rating standards are being used across the organization, the following performance rating distribution is recommended at the organizational level. We understand there may be exceptions to this guideline and suggest all managers discuss their team’s ratings with their next level manager.

- 1 – Does Not Meet Expectations: 0-5%
- 2 – Meets Some Expectations: 15%
- 3 – Meets All Expectations: 50%
- 4 – Exceeds Some Expectations: 15%
- 5 – Exceeds All Expectations: 10%
TIMELINE
- Manager Completes Evaluation Form: 6/21/2021 – 6/25/2021
- One-on-One Reviews: 6/28/2021 – 7/2/2021
- Associate Acknowledgement: 7/5/2021 – 7/6/2021
- Manager Acknowledgement: 7/7/2021 – 7/9/2021
TRAINING AND SUPPORT
- A video training will be assigned to all mangers with direct reports on Monday, June 14. Managers will receive a registration email from Lmshelp@essex.com when the video is assigned.
